Taproom Weekday Lead

Reports To: Office Manager

Compensation: Range $18.00 - $21.00 per hour

Company Overview

Lupulin Brewing Company is a vibrant community hub and destination in Big Lake, MN. While we produce award winning beer, our true product is the experience we provide. We are a team dedicated to exceptional hospitality, creating a welcoming environment where every guest feels at home. Lupulin’s core principles are built on customer access, community involvement, and creating memorable experiences.

Job Summary

The Taproom Weekday Lead is the conductor of the guest experience. While you will perform the standard duties of service, your primary focus is the operational success of the shift and the atmosphere of the room. You are the point person on the floor, responsible for energizing the team, ensuring service standards are met, and strictly maintaining the quality of the Lupulin Brewing Company (LBC) environment.

We are looking for a motivated self-starter with a "hospitality-first" personality. This role is designed for a driven individual who desires professional growth and is motivated by performance-based incentives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Elevation of Customer Experience

  • Host Mentality: Act as the ultimate host. Go beyond "taking orders" by engaging patrons directly, anticipating their needs, and ensuring they feel seen and welcomed the moment they walk in.
  • Brand Ambassador: Model a positive, high-energy attitude. You are the face of the brand for the duration of your shift.
  • Conflict Resolution: Serve as the first point of escalation for customer feedback. You must have the emotional intelligence to turn a negative situation into a positive resolution, ensuring the patron leaves satisfied.
  • Guide the Experience: Lead by example in guiding guests through our menu. You don't need to be a scientist, but you must be able to confidently recommend products based on what the customer enjoys to ensure they have a great time.

2. Team Leadership & Accountability

  • Direct the Floor: Coordinate the service team to ensure the room is covered, lines are moving, and tables are turned over efficiently.
  • Performance Metrics: Lead the shift to meet or exceed general daily performance metrics (service speed, cleanliness standards, and guest satisfaction).
  • Standard Enforcement: Ensure the team is executing all support roles…busing tables, washing glassware, and keeping the taproom spotless.
  • Coaching: Uphold LBC standards by correcting service lapses immediately (e.g., negative body language, ignored guests) and ensuring all opening checklists are completed to 100%.

3. Operational Excellence

  • Atmosphere Control: You own the "vibe" of the room. This means monitoring lighting, music volume, temperature, and cleanliness to ensure the environment is comfortable and inviting.
  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce all regulations set forth by alcohol regulating agencies, including age verification and responsibly managing consumption.
  • Opening:  Execute and sign off on all opening duties to ensure the facility is ready for the next team.

4. Service Duties

  • The Taproom Weekday Lead is still an active service member and must perform core duties, including:
    • Operating the point-of-sale system (POS) with speed and accuracy.
    • Serving beverages and maintaining taproom cleanliness.
    • Handling inventory movements and basic logistics to keep service running smoothly.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Personality: Must possess a high "Hospitality Gene"...a genuine desire to serve others and make people happy.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead a team, delegate tasks, and hold others accountable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience: Prior customer service or hospitality experience is required. Bartending experience is helpful, but a strong background in retail, dining, or high-touch customer service is equally valued.
  • Growth Mindset: A strong desire to learn, grow within the company, and achieve performance goals.
  • Skills: Exceptional communication skills, ability to focus under pressure, and a proactive "see it, fix it" mindset.
  • Availability: Must be able to work a regular weekday schedule.
  • Age: Must be 21+ years old.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Environment: Fast-paced, social environment with background noise and heavy foot traffic.
  • Stamina: Required to stand for extended periods and maintain high energy.
  • Lifting: Required to lift boxes 35-50 lbs and assist in moving kegs (up to 170 lbs) using proper equipment.

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a team that is passionate about "Work Hard, Play Hard" and great beer.
  • Competitive pay based on your experience.
  • Opportunity to lead and shape the daily guest experience at one of Minnesota's premier breweries.
