Taproom & Events Assistant - MN

Job Description

The Taproom & Events Assistant will work closely with the Front of House Director to ensure a seamless flow of events in the taproom as well as operations of the day-to-day taproom business.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Daily Taproom Operations
    • Assist the Front of House Director in managing inventory onsite, including beer, merchandise, taproom supplies (soda, pretzels, etc.) This includes counting of inventory, sourcing the most financially sound items, and following all standard operating procedures in OBeer. 
    • Managing taproom beer stocking and warehouse transferring - this includes stocking the coolers, entering warehouse transfer requests, and transferring empty kegs back to the warehouse.
    • Review that the closing duties were performed the evening before to ensure that the taproom is clean and ready for patrons at opening.  
    • Manage the coordination of critical tasks such as growler cleaning, and draft line cleaning and ensure beers on tap are in line with our standards to serve (right temperature, optimal quality, no off flavors or smells)
    • Willingness to help out with other tasks as needed. 
  • Customer Relations & Event Coordination
    • Work with the Front of House Director for a smooth handoff on events, acting as the point person for setup and tear down of events as required
    • Assist the Front of House Director with event planning, this includes sourcing vendors, ordering in supplies, and being available for day-of operations
  • Beertender Service
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the beer styles and tap selections at Lupulin Brewing Company, as well as of other craft brewery styles.
    • Ensure taproom cleanliness when on the floor - removing dirty glasses from tables and the bar, trash/recycling is disposed of properly, games are being picked up and returned to the game area
    • Excellent customer service - engaging with each patron directly, making all feel welcomed and assisting them with any needs they may have
    • Conforming to and enforce regulations set forth by the alcoholic beverage commission (double-checking IDs when necessary, curtailing overconsumption)

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  • Availability to work nights and weekends as needed, totaling a minimum of 40 hours per week.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in bar/restaurant management and event planning/coordinating.
  • Demonstrated passion for craft beer, including comprehensive knowledge of beer styles and brewing processes.
  • Cicerone certification or equivalent (or willingness to obtain within 60 days).
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office software and a willingness to learn POS systems.
  • Ability to lift boxes weighing 35-50 lbs and move full kegs (up to 170 lbs) with the aid of equipment.
  • Positive attitude and adeptness in handling challenging situations with composure.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

  • This position entails working in a fast-paced environment, interacting with diverse patrons, and operating near brewery equipment.
  • Required to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects with assistance.
