Packaging Assistant - MN

Job Description

The Packaging Assistant is primarily responsible for assisting with all packaging operations. The secondary responsibility of this position is to assist with various warehouse duties as assigned/needed

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Visually inspect and weigh cans on the packaging line to ensure quality
  • Place cans into cardboard case trays
  • Apply plastic carrying grids to the top of cans
  • Stack full cases onto pallets for storage. Approx. 24 lbs/case
  • Help maintain cleanliness of warehouse by cleaning on and around the canning line before/during/after operations
  • Move pallets full of cans into the cooler using a manual pallet jack
  • Assist canning line operator with loading empty cans and lids to be applied to cans
  • Work as member of the team to implement continual improvement in packaging quality and output.
  • Help maintain a safe working environment.
  • Help maintain cleanliness of warehouse.
  • Assist with miscellaneous warehouse duties.
  • Willingness to help out with other tasks as needed and assigned.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  • Part-Time weekday and daytime availability required. Typical hours 6:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
  • Approximately 1-2 Shifts per week
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to operate a hand truck and/or pallet jack required
  • Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills
  • Self motivated, able to perform tasks with minimal supervision
  • Fun, positive attitude is a must

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs above knee height
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to bend, stoop, twist, lift repetitively
  • Ability to operate a hand truck or pallet jack
